British Fish and Chips

par geedelsales1 14 Nov 2025 0 commentaire

Why do You love this?

Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside fish fillets paired with golden, crunchy chips— it's the most iconic street food in the UK! Making it at home is healthier, and the Geedel vegetable chopper cuts potato strips perfectly evenly. The chips turn out crispy every single one, served with tartar sauce— fully recreating the authentic street food flavor!

Ingredients

Main: 2 cod fillets (approx. 300g), 2 potatoes, 100g all-purpose flour, 80g breadcrumbs, 2 eggs

Tartar Sauce: 30g mayonnaise, 20g gherkins, 1/4 onion, 1 tsp lemon juice

Seasonings: 1 tsp salt, a pinch of black pepper, appropriate amount of cooking oil, 20ml beer (to mix with flour)

Detailed Instructions

1.Prep chips & sauce with Geedel

Peel the potatoes, use the Geedel food chopper's thick shred attachment to cut into uniform chips. Soak the chips in cold water to remove excess starch (for extra crispiness). Use the chopper's dicing attachment to mince gherkins and onion. Mix the minced gherkins, onion, mayonnaise, and lemon juice in a bowl— stir well to make tartar sauce.

2.Fry the chips

Drain the potato chips thoroughly with paper towels (dryness is key for crispiness). Heat the cooking oil to 170℃ (medium heat), add the chips and fry for 3 minutes to set their shape. Remove and drain excess oil. Increase the oil temperature to 190℃, then re-fry the chips for 1 minute until golden brown and crispy. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and set aside.

3.Fry the fish fillets

Cut cod fillets into large chunks, marinate with salt and black pepper for 5 minutes. In a bowl, mix flour with beer to make a smooth paste. Dip each marinated fish chunk into the flour paste, then coat with beaten egg, followed by breadcrumbs (ensure full coverage). Fry the coated fish in 170℃ oil for 5 minutes until the surface turns golden and crispy. Remove and drain oil on paper towels. Serve with the crispy chips and tartar sauce.

Summary

This classic British street food shines with its crispy texture and simple operation. The Geedel vegetable chopper solves two key pain points: uneven potato strips and tedious mincing of gherkins/onion. Its uniform cuts ensure the chips cook evenly and stay crispy, while the dicing function simplifies tartar sauce prep. Even beginners can easily recreate the authentic street food flavor at home!
